The military HQ in Northwood has both a UK and a NATO role.

It houses a part of the [[military_organisation_posture#military_command_structure|NATO military command structure]]: CC Mar. CC Mar is the maritime component headquarter functioning under the JFC HQ in [[Brunssum]] (Netherlands). It is commanded by a U.K. Navy Admiral, and has about 280 personnel.
